Metal particles, welding residue, dust, water, or other contamination can enter the fuel system. The inside of the tank should be checked and cleaned according to the confirmed production process.
The tank must also be dry before packing. Trapped moisture can promote internal corrosion in steel tanks during storage and sea transportation.
Painted, polished, plated, or unfinished tanks require different visual standards. Inspectors check scratches, dents, deformation, color consistency, coating condition, and handling marks.
